Annual but oh so essential outing, Thursday June 2: CM2 students visited the waste sorting center at La Bastide, in Nîmes. Organized and managed by Nathalie Malek, from the community of communes of Petite Camargue, the visit allowed the students to discover the route of household waste.
Thierry Chambon, who accompanied the CM2 this year, appreciates: “The center is very well organized, with games, clear and precise posters, videos, interactive tablets, not forgetting the visit along a passageway of the different machines and techniques. The children discover behind the scenes with the noise and the smell of our garbage cans.”
The pupils and accompanying parents fully understood the issue and the interactive exercises pointed out the importance of waste and its new life. “You can make a scooter out of cans”Laura mused when she discovered the animation. “My fleece is none other than recycled bottles”Ethan said, putting his hand mechanically on his coat, his eyes wide open.
The students left with a wealth of knowledge: that rubbish is worth gold.
Valérie, the center’s reception manager, explains: “Visits for adults are possible. They must be scheduled with a minimum number of people.”
An outing to imagine on the side of the town for those who take the streets and nature for trash cans.
