Adrian Newey, Red Bull F1 move ‘felt stagnation at McLaren'[F1-Gate.com]

Adrian Newey joined Red Bull Racing in 2006 for multiple reasons. The legendary F1 designer has spoken about the appeal of working for the Milton Keynes stable.

Since Adrian Newey joined Red Bull Racing in February 2006, the team has enjoyed many successes. The team has won six constructors’ championships and seven drivers’ championships with F1 cars designed by aerodynamic specialists.

Sebastian Vettel has won the title four times in a row with RB6, RB7, RB8 and RB9. Max Verstappen won the throne last year with RB16B and this year with RB18.

Prior to joining Red Bull Racing, Adrian Newey proved to be a key factor in the success of Williams and McLaren.

However, as Adrian Newey pointed out in an interview with Christian Horner on Red Bull TV, a completely different goal was in the foreground at first.

“Winning was a distant dream. Trying to win a race was really intriguing for me.”

But that wasn’t the only reason Adrian Newey joined Red Bull Racing.

“I was a little nervous,” says Adrian Newey.

“I was lucky to have worked for two great teams and won multiple races and championships.
