Nowadays, it is no longer even a secret that the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, is literally dismantling Public Health for the benefit of private individuals.
For days now, the shocking photo of a young man lying on three chairs in a hallway of Theageniou hospital in Thessaloniki, waiting to recover from intoxication after an endoscopy, has been circulating on social networks. It was posted by the director of the Gastroenterology Clinic of Theageniou, Dimitris Tzilves, apologizing for discrediting the NHS and stressing that the efforts of the hospital’s doctors “at all levels” were fruitless.
In particular, in his post, the director of the Gastroenterology Clinic of Theagenios, Dimitris Tzilves wrote under the photo-shame. “We apologize to our patients for the ‘resuscitation room’ available. We regret that all our appeals at all levels for better conditions have been fruitless.”
Georgiadis: Unacceptable image – There were beds
Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis spoke to SKAI about an unacceptable image and claimed that there were empty beds on another floor, blaming the manager.
Also in his own post on Sunday evening, Adonis Georgiadis announced that he has ordered an emergency EDE for the incident, claiming that “there were plenty of beds available at the time.”

Commander Theageniou: There were other alternatives
For her part, the administrator of Theageniou, Evangelia Kourteli-Xouri, issued a statement, in which she admits that there is no resuscitation area for the Gastrointestinal Oncology Department, which is located on the 4th floor of the hospital.
It specifically notes:
It has been proposed and decided by a unanimous decision of the Board of Directors. following the recommendation of the competent committee, regarding the utilization of the spaces of the vacated 9th floor of the Hospital, the organization of the Endoscopy Laboratory with a resuscitation room, which until now never existed, which until now has not been accepted by the specific department.
At the same time, he mentions other alternative solutions that the doctor could theoretically use, which however are either not always possible or require the patient to be moved to other floors. In fact, he goes so far as to propose a stretcher in the office of the nurse in charge as an alternative solution.
