The Sailors’ coaching staff would have liked to avoid changes in the composition, but they were forced to redraw the most deadly link. Starkov was injured and replaced by Petkov in Shen’s top three. In a “5 on 5” format, the teams made several attacks, while the guests were more likely to use the nearby bench. But neither the first nor the second had 100% scoring chances. Before the middle zone of the game, Petukhov changed tactics and tried to score a lacrosse goal, but his opponents prevented this as well. The sailors attacked more often in the second period and had more possession of the puck than their opponents. And it still bore fruit. In the 33rd minute, Soshnikov turned the majority. The new Admiral dragged the puck into the field himself and, playing with Shen, decided in the moment. Five minutes later, the hosts again broke the rules, and six seconds were enough for the sailors to score on the power play. Fiore touched after the throw-in, Shestakov put it under the goal.
In the third period, the teams managed to play in different formations, including 4 on 4, but no one managed to take advantage of the free ice. Despite the fact that the period was “dry”, the “sailors” can consider it as their resource. They looked more active although their score was better than satisfactory. By the 15th minute the difference in shots on target was 10 to 4 for the hosts. And Petkov and Shepelev’s moments deserved to be goals.
In the last minutes of the game, “Admiral” did not allow the opponent to get hold of their field and brought the game to a logical end. 2:0 – the residents of Primorye celebrate their sixth victory of the season and their first in Tolyatti since 2018.
