Administrative assistant shortly before retirement moves to Saudi Arabia

Bottrop, Riyadh (dpo) – Even the greatest players eventually take a step back: Following the example of great footballers such as Cristiano Ronaldo or Karim Benzema, Bottrop administrative employee Walter Mesebach has now also decided to move to Saudi Arabia shortly before his retirement.

“I’m not that young anymore and I have to think about my future,” explains the 61-year-old. “That’s why I think now is the right time to move to Saudi Arabia and slowly wind down my career as an administrative assistant there.”

In the coming season, he will be working for the Royal Government Authority for Infrastructure, Water Management and Beheadings in Riyadh. He has signed up for a total of three years.

He knows that work in Saudi Arabia is not carried out to the same high standard as in Europe. “But the Saudis pay really well for that,” says Mesebach. “They want to polish their image with people like me. That’s fine with me.”

Some colleagues criticize his move to Saudi Arabia. “Ugh! Walter is only after the money,” complains Gisela Müller from the human resources department. “I would never accept an offer like that.”

Mesebach doesn’t care: He is flying to Riyadh today, where he will be officially introduced together with other high-profile, ageing administrative stars from Spain, France and Brazil.
