On Saturday, the probe managed the last step to take a place in the orbit around the so-called libration point between the Earth and the Sun, where it can stay for essentially as long as you want, thanks to the equalization of the gravitational and centrifugal forces of both space bodies.
- The center of gravity (Lagrange point) is a point in the system of two bodies rotating around a common center of gravity, where the gravitational and centrifugal forces balance. Such an area is therefore suitable for the location of stationary devices, the position of which can be maintained with only minimal demands on propellants.
It is supposed to use this to obtain information about the solar atmosphere using the seven instruments it has on board.
It is intended to help scientists better understand the laws of solar activity and its effect on Earth.

Expected service life of at least five years
“On Saturday around 11:30 CET, the Indian space observatory Áditya-L1 was put into a so-called halo orbit around the Lagrange point L1 of the Sun-Earth system,” stated on the X network cosmonautics specialist Michal Václavík from the Czech Space Agency and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at CTU Prague, with the fact that the time of one circulation will be 177 days and 20.6 hours.
According to him, the expected lifespan of this space observatory is at least five years.

The Aditya-L1 solar probe, named after the Hindu god of the Sun, launched in early September and set off for its destination after four orbits of Earth. It is located approximately one hundredth of the distance between the Earth and the Sun.
Immediately after the start of its mission, the satellite began to transmit data, including photographic data: among other things, it was a remarkable shot of the Earth with the Moon or a “selfie”, as the server of the news station pointed out at the time BBC.
