Adiós – The Clans of Seville, DVD and Blu-Ray – Eschborn city magazine

An authentic thriller that shows Seville completely different side. Juan Santos, one of the sons of the infamous Santos cartel, is released from prison for his little daughter’s first communion. A terrible accident happened on the way back with his family in the car. His little daughter Estrella dies on the street. It quickly becomes clear that it was no ordinary accident, but had to do with drug trafficking, retribution and the clan war in Seville.

Juan is blind with hatred and goes on a campaign of revenge. Meanwhile, the young policewoman Eli wants to prevent an escalation. But she has to stop Juan and the corrupt police officers who are involved in drug trafficking with the clans.

A dark, realistic thriller that you believe in every sentence and every scene. A story that one would almost like to locate in the noir genre. Absolutely worth seeing, albeit tough.

The DVD and Blu-Ray have been available since November 5, 2020.

Juan Santos is finally released and is supposed to slowly reintegrate outside of prison. His brothers visit him already at the communion party of his little daughter. They want to drag him back into the criminal machinations of his clan. But Juan categorically refuses. He wants a different life for himself, his wife and little Estrella. When the family is rammed by a car on the way home that has hit and missed, everything looks like an accident. But it was by no means because this part of the city is all about poverty, violence and crime. It doesn’t matter whether someone wanted to teach Juan a lesson or was on the run from a drug deal that went wrong. Because in the collision, the little girl is killed.

This is where the vengeance or revenge part begins. Because Juan, blind with hatred, chases the backers. The young policewoman Eli also wants to clarify the accident that happened the same night when several men were shot in cold blood in a drug deal in the slum area. But in order to avoid a gang war on the streets of Seville, Eli not only has to stop Juan, she also has invisible opponents who can be very dangerous to her. Your own corrupt police colleagues who benefit more than just from the local drug trade.

It’s an intense thriller-drama that regularly obscures the line between right and wrong, good and bad. Not only the extremely strong acting performances of Mario Casa (Juan), Natalia de Molina (Triana, his wife) and Ruth Diaz (the policewoman Eli) characterize the film, also the gloomy corners of a big city that you don’t know. Seville without make-up, full of misery in its role as the garbage heap of civilization with all its unworthy, inhuman excesses, helps to highlight the film as something special. Not easy fare, but very impressive.
