The Prosoterramiento platform has reported the disassembly of the Santiago el Mayor footbridge that was installed three years ago, in 2018 to carry out the underground works at its entrance to Murcia and that replaced the level crossing through which the residents of the area passed .

Its installation generated controversy at the time due to the discomfort for the passage of the residents of Santiago el mayor to the Carmen neighborhood and that on several occasions it was broken.

According to the platform, it is now planned to gradually open pedestrian and vehicle crossings as level crossings disappear.

The members of this platform have met with the mayor of Murcia, José Antonio Serrano, who has ensured that the pedestrian and vehicle crossings on the underground roads will be open throughout the month of July.

In addition, according to Serrano, ADIF is working against the clock so that the space released by the burial can be used by neighbors as soon as possible.

In this way, according to municipal sources, Murcians and Murcians could enjoy throughout this summer the space freed by the burial, which will be used for a “great urban transformation project”, in which there are bike lanes, green areas, as well as recreation areas and different accesses for both neighbors and vehicles.
