Using a tool, users can later dress their avatars in NFT clothing made by Adidas
Adidas is now officially selling virtual clothing. Last November 16, brand fashion the German company has announced the arrival of the Adidas Virtual Gear, an NFT clothing collection designed for use in metaverse. The new NFT collection comes nearly a year since Adidas first unveiled its fascination with trends metaverse.
As described in the press release, Adidas has specially designed its NFT collection to be worn by virtual avatars. Every asset of this NFT Virtual Gear is insured interoperable with various other projects. “The Adidas collection is able to respond and adapt to the environment metaverse under construction, so that ‘Virtual Gear’ is ready for all aspects of Web3,” Adidas wrote.
In total, there are 16 virtual jacket variations in the NFT Virtual Gear collection. Three of the variants have designs that refer specifically to adidas partners in its inaugural launch of NFT last year — Bored Ape Yacht Club, Gmoney, and Punks Comics.
In order to get NFT Adidas Virtual Gear, you must own NFT Adidas Originals Meta Capsule first. Yes, this new Adidas NFT collection is automatic and randomairdrops the wallet which contains NFT Adidas Capsules. From there they can choose to sacrifice their NFT Adidas Capsule to reveal the jacket variant they get.
For those who don’t have an NFT Capsule, the only way to get NFT Virtual Gear is through buy it at secondary market from collectors who choose to make money rather than display it.
In the near future, Adidas will launch a PFP tool that allows users to outfit their NFT assets with Adidas Virtual Gear. Therefore, what users can sport is not just the NFT jacket, but what has been put on their respective avatars.
The Avatar or PFP NFT itself must be from the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club or Inhabitants collections to be compatible. Adidas did not say whether the number of supported NFT collections will increase in the future.

As for the compatibility with the platforms metaverse, Adidas does not yet have specific details. But there is a chance that The Sandbox is one of the first. The reason is simple: Adidas bought 144 virtual fields in The Sandbox last year.
