In Berlin today, ADEXA national board member Andreas May protested with thousands of pharmacy employees and owners for a strengthening of on-site pharmacies and for fair remuneration – and thus also for greater room for maneuver in collective bargaining.

Across Germany, ADEXA members were involved in the decentralized protest actions and rallies in various cities.

In his speech at the final rally in Berlin, May emphasized:

“Today we are here – pharmacy employees and pharmacy managers – because we want to show politicians and the public: Pharmacy teams are always at the forefront of healthcare! Whether for a little ailment or for advice on new medicines after a bad diagnosis. Whether Saturday night for fever juice for the sick child or Monday morning for the morning-after pill. Everyone is taken seriously!

We have an open ear. We are empathetic and not machines, because who wants to tell their very private things to an AI.
We work professionally. And we always come up with a solution even in the event of delivery bottlenecks! We help the patients on site.

And this commitment often goes beyond the mandate of the state. I’m just reminding you of the flexible supply during the pandemic. Everything was closed. We were there!

But: The health and economic ministries are opposed to a fair reward for this state order. Why? Are the 150,000 pharmacy employees worth nothing?

  • Today, the people of our country can feel the impact of decades of unfair austerity policies.
  • Today, a central building block in services of general interest is missing.
  • Today you can see what pharmacy teams otherwise do every day!

I call on politicians to act now:

  • It’s about the well-being of the patients!
  • It’s about preserving our training companies!
  • It’s about our jobs and their appropriate remuneration!”
