Adesso developed for the LVM analytics platform in the cloud

Adesso has landed another major order from the insurance industry. The digitalization partner of insurers and financial service providers supports LVM Versicherung, which is one of the 20 largest primary insurers in Germany, in building a new data landscape. The goal is to transform the existing heterogeneous data & analytics landscape into a uniform data platform. The partners rely on the Microsoft Azure Cloud as the technological basis. At the same time, established working methods and processes are being transformed and digitalized. The central guiding principle of the new solution is a public cloud first approach. In the future, only data that is not allowed to leave the LVM will be held in our own data center.

The order is part of a three-stage project. The first phase started at the beginning of September 2024 and will run for three years. It includes the provision of the new platform and the establishment of the new processes and collaboration models. In the further phases, innovative applications will be created based on the new platform, which will be gradually rolled out into the business areas.

LVM develops and markets its diverse insurance and financial service offerings in independently operating business areas and has built up mature, interdependent application landscapes. Over the decades, a large number of interlocking application landscapes in insurance have grown. The Münster-based insurer now wants to create the basis for modern and more efficient data use by consolidating it on a uniform cloud platform.

The company-wide availability of relevant data strengthens the autonomy of the business areas. At the same time, it promotes transparency, knowledge sharing and employee collaboration. Data-supported decision-making is becoming much easier. LVM wants to approach the goal of data-driven insurance, achieve a higher level of automation and use artificial intelligence.

Digital transformation on multiple levels

Several aspects are central to the order given to Adesso, as the company describes: Technologically, these are the development and construction of a new data platform as well as migration. In the first project phase, important use cases will also be developed directly as lighthouse projects on the new platform.

LVM is also supported by Adesso in making the necessary changes: An important point here is the introduction of tailor-made data governance, which includes an approach to handling data that is tailored to LVM’s corporate culture. In addition, change managers and consultants from Adesso support the introduction of a new innovation and data culture, the integration of the departments into the transformation process, and the qualification and coaching of employees. In this way, a high level of acceptance for the new solutions and processes should be created right from the start.

The locations of both companies in Münster are close to each other, so that those involved in the project can work together as a joint team on site at any time.

Now

We are pleased about the trust that LVM has placed in us. A technological and organizational transformation of this dimension requires a lot of coordination and close cooperation in order not to impact business operations.”

“Adesso has proven to be the ideal digitalization partner with its consulting expertise, industry knowledge and technological expertise,” says Thomas Sendker, IT Director at LVM Insurance. “Together we will create a unified data platform that will take cross-departmental collaboration to a new level.

The future data & analytics landscape also forms the basis for the introduction of innovative technologies and enables us to introduce and further develop data-driven business models.”
