CelebritiesAmerican singer Adele (35) recently “wetted her pants” during an entire concert due to stress. This was because she knew that a well-known colleague was in the room. The superstar was so nervous that she started to doubt everything, she says in an interview with ‘The Hollywood Reporter’. In it she also reveals why she can no longer hear her biggest hit herself.
“There have been a lot of great people,” Adele says in the interview about her concert series in Las Vegas. “There was even a guest who made me shit my pants the entire show.” And that was Lady Gaga. The singer has also given a series of concerts in the American gambling city and also came to admire Adele in Las Vegas. And even though the singers know each other a little, Adele still found it terrifying.
It was the first and only time that a well-known colleague was in the room of which Adele was aware in advance. Gaga was wearing everyday clothes, so without the announcement she might not have even noticed her. “I saw her,” Adele continues. “All I could think about was the fact that the show was terrible. It was bad. I sang terribly. I wasn’t funny. My dress was nothing this week. I judged myself. And I know she doesn’t judge like that herself. But she made me very, very nervous.”
Adele is now on a short break, but will restart her concerts in Las Vegas early next year. There is one person who hasn’t seen the show yet and Adele’s has yet to see it. “My mother. I’m waiting because I want her to see it at the end. Because I think she will also find it very emotional.”
Avoiding your own music
In addition, Adele also confirms in the conversation that she does not listen to her own music. “Rich does listen and that drives me crazy,” she refers to her partner Rich Paul (41). “And if a song of mine is played on the radio, my driver has to turn the radio off immediately. So I don’t like that at all.”
She can no longer listen to one of her songs, even the one with which she reached the highest position in the charts. “I can’t listen to ‘Someone like you’ because my voice sounds so young on it.” And although she can no longer hear the song itself, she still sings it. It is even still on the set list of her concerts.
