Adele surprised her fans over the weekend by announcing that she will take a long break from music once her residency in Las Vegas ends, news she had already referred to a few months ago after several uninterrupted years in which she delighted millions of people with her shows.

“I have 10 shows left, but after that, you won’t see me for an incredibly long time. I will carry you in my heart,” Adele revealed in an emotional TikTok clip during one of her electrifying performances in Munich, Germany.

The break comes after a successful stint in Las Vegas, where her residency has been critically acclaimed and has broken attendance records. The British singer has previously mentioned that she needs some time to recharge and spend more time with her family, especially after such an intensive tour.

Although her fans will miss her, they are excited to see what new projects or inspirations she will bring when she decides to return, however, many of them regretted the singer’s indefinite retirement, as they hoped she would not let so much time pass before surprising them with new music.

Meanwhile, many fans speculated that Adele would take time off from her career to marry her fiancé Rich Paul, after the star confirmed her engagement to the 42-year-old sports agent at one of her first shows in Munich last month.

The “Easy on Me” singer first shared the news about her break from music in July.

“I don’t have any plans for new music. I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, even if it’s just for a while,” she told German outlet ZDF.

Adele began her Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in November 2022. Her final show is scheduled for November 23, and she just wrapped up 10 special shows at Munich’s Open Air Arena.

Announcing the final dates of her Las Vegas residency in October, Adele reflected in a note on what the Sin City shows have meant to her.

“This residency, these shows have changed my life, I desperately needed to fall in love with playing live again and I did. I needed to reconnect with my songs and remember what they mean to me, and I did!”

Almost a year ago, in December 2023, in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the star assured that making new music was not on her radar at the moment, instead, she talked about taking a long break from her musical career.

“It makes me nervous to exhaust my voice [en la residencia]“It’s a lot of singing. It’s two hours. All live. It’s a lot,” he said. “And I also talk a lot and I talk until I’m tired. But yeah, I still don’t have anything to say. I haven’t even thought about it.”
