November 19 will be released 30, the fourth album ofAdele after six years of absence. Several extracts have already been unveiled, such as the very popular Easy on me, whose clip, directed by Xavier Dolan, peaks at more than 154 million views on Youtube. Like he usually does, Adele drew inspiration from her personal life to write her songs. It is notably on the track Hold on (‘Tiens le coup’ in French, editor’s note), that she agreed to say a little more about it during a two-hour interview with Oprah Winfrey for the channel CBS.

Exhausting trying to move forward
“Hold on” is the state of mind she was in at the time of her divorce from Simon Konecki. “My friends always told me to hold on when I felt this way, says the 33-year-old singer. It was just exhausting trying to move forward. Divorce is quite a process. It is the fact ofsuddenly being a single parent, to not see her child every day … that was not really what I had planned when I became a mom. “

Adele gave birth to a little Angelo in 2012 when she was in a relationship with Simon Konecki whom she married in 2016. After several years of happiness, the singer explained that her world collapsed at the age of 30, cumulating divorce , depression and impressive weight loss. This new album, very personal, was born with the aim of explaining to her 9 year old child the reason why she made the decision to separate from the dad. She also says she has “the impression that this album is self-destruction, then self-reflection and self-redemption“.
