The General Council of A.D.E.D.Y., after the strike mobilization of February 28, decided to continue the struggle with a new 24-hour All-Employee strike mobilization on May 21 “against the punctuality and economic impoverishment of the workers, from government policy’ and calls on all public employees to take part in it en masse.
“Fourteen years after the memorandums, where our salaries were reduced by 40%, gifts were abolished, the 2% solidarity levy was imposed, the two-year 16-17 was frozen, the tax-free was reduced, the government provokes with the crumbs of its income policy and leads public employees in poverty and impoverishment”, he states, among other things.
According to the relevant announcement, the demanding context of the mobilization is as follows:
-Horizontal increase of 10% in the salaries of the employees in the State, in order to tackle elementary accuracy and inflation.
-Restoration here and now of gifts
-Collective agreements for our salaries
-Abolition of the wage freeze for the two years 2016-17
-Repeal of the 2% unemployment levy – Increase of the tax-free allowance to 12,000 euros
-Increasing the allowance for unhealthy work
– To immediately staff all critical public bodies (health, education, social services, insurance, etc.) with permanent employees and to upgrade all the necessary infrastructures.
In addition, ADEDY announced “the support of the mobilizations of the health workers (POEDIN) on May 16, 2024. The support of the mobilizations of the educational federations that are taking place during this period with the strike – abstention from the evaluation. The re-announcement of the strike-abstention in the public sector and in education, when this is deemed necessary, in cooperation with the federations”.
