Addressing Violence Caused by Minors: Finding Solutions for Troubled Youth and Single-Parent Families

The various sources, both judicial and police, but also associative or political, mainly mention young people between 16 and 20 years old. Seeking answers to violence caused by minors is therefore logical. Many mayors in particular are worried about the loss of bearings of young minors, identified by social services, known to the police, sometimes already convicted, who concentrate difficulties of all kinds. The whole problem, when we discuss with elected officials or educators, is to find the levers to catch up with these children or adolescents, get them out of delinquency or prevent them from slipping. Note that we are talking here, almost exclusively about boys. Also note that, in many cases, these are children from single-parent families – mothers who raise them alone. Most educators insist on the fact that sanctioning parents is ineffective, that it risks weakening them a little more.
