The concept of sexual education is highly relevant in terms of (school) pedagogy and (subject) didactics – and at the same time it is comparatively underrepresented, especially in the context of primary pedagogical subject-didactic discourses and research. The volume focuses on the school and teaching-related reconstruction and deconstruction of normalistic or heteronormative, discriminatory and hurtful structures, cultures and practices. The contributions address the possibilities and necessities of sex education and gender-sensitive pedagogy and didactics in primary education. Questionable and questionable aspects of current as well as past (school) pedagogical theory, practice and research are referred to. It is underlined that scientific discourses and research on sex education and gender-sensitive pedagogy are still urgently needed. They represent an important building block for an adequate design of sex education in pedagogical contexts as well as for the professionalization of pedagogical specialists.
