The VOX councilors with responsibilities for Agriculture and the Rural World in the Governments of Castilla y León, Aragón, the Valencian Community and Extremadura have once again addressed a letter to the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, in which they reiterate the request so that homogeneous criteria and the same protocols are established throughout Spain in the face of Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHE).
In this sense, they have demanded that, as a matter of urgency, the research and development of initiatives that make it possible to have a mandatory vaccine available that protects the livestock population.
In this new letter, which has been signed by the councilors of Castilla y León, Aragon, the Valencian Community and Extremadura, they have indicated that the EHE represents “a strong setback” for the livestock sector, which “has been suffering” from increases in production costs for some time. , “to which are added greater economic losses” due to this disease.
“With this new letter, we want to convey the concern that farmers have expressed to us about the unexpected evolution this year, especially due to the rapid spread throughout practically the entire national territory, and also due to the high number of animals affected by EHE. “, the councilors have highlighted.
They have also requested that the necessary coordination protocols be established with homogeneous criteria throughout Spain, which also inform, in a transparent manner, the conditions for the movements of animals to other member states, including fighting animals.
“We consider that it is essential that research and development of initiatives that make it possible to have available, as soon as possible, a mandatory vaccine that protects the livestock herd is urgently promoted and strengthened,” they concluded.
