It seems that the conversation about Covid-19 and its repercussions can never end. Rather, we are discovering other problems that were not noticed at the time, and all attention remained directed towards the economic repercussions and the loss of human lives.
The Corona pandemic has affected immunity, what humanity has done in the field of health, and the accumulated historical efforts in vaccination, which represents one of the geniuses of doctors who discovered vaccines for diseases that were incurable. Before the Corona pandemic, talking about this issue was not of heavy weight in terms of importance, but when the World Health Organization states that humanity has lost 30 years of time associated with achievements in the field of immunity, I do not think that such a shocking statement can be overlooked. The issue affects health and immunity, and this in itself is very sufficient to mobilize the international health debate on a large scale, because the cost is exorbitant and exceeds months or a few years, and we are even talking about three full decades. In fact, it is expected from this frightening diagnosis that the world will mobilize under the supervision and instructment of the International Health Organization to organize conferences and meetings attended by health ministers to present the plans developed for a rapid and measured remedy for the 30-year decline in the field of immunity and vaccination. Rather, what is required is the assistance of countries that find it difficult to remedy in various respects, not to mention the obligation to mobilize financial support, because financing the process of remedying the regression is not free.
Another point that confirms the seriousness of this issue while we are in the World Immunization Week, is that vaccines affect the category of children and the failure to recover their immunity means that the damage in terms of immunity will affect future generations of humanity, i.e. it will affect the work force and will negatively affect the successes that humanity has achieved in the hope of life and health.
What we do not address clearly and explicitly is that the Corona pandemic represented a coup on more than one level.
Question: Is children’s immunity from normal subjects and acceptable loss?
Of course not, and this is what necessitates finding solutions to remedy three decades of decline. However, the problem is that addressing the regression – as we mentioned above – requires capabilities that experience has proven to be available only by relying on countries and official health agencies in the world. The biggest problem is that the majority of countries were affected by the Covid pandemic, and their priorities became securing food for their people and trying to counter the effects of the Russian-Ukrainian war, which increased the confusion of countries, and made them formulate their priorities in a way that does not exceed the current and the short term.
There is also an undisclosed and undisclosed social and cultural danger that is mainly represented in the decline in mentalities, the culture of vaccination, and the scientific interaction with the body. This is because immunization is a culture, a process, and a struggle that has accumulated throughout history in order to reach a kind of consensus that vaccination is essential. Respecting the vaccination schedule for every child means respecting health and immunizing the body against diseases that it cannot deal with in the absence of vaccination. Reconvincing people that vaccination is necessary was not easy and it will not be so if it turns out that addressing the decline requires a parallel treatment in this regard as well.
There is no doubt that the Arab countries are also witnessing this decline, which requires attention, national plans and strategies for which the structures concerned with childhood, family and social development, as well as donor institutions, and in the first place the media and social education structures join hands.
Nothing makes sense if the decline in immunity is not remedied by an estimated time of three decades. There must be a cry of panic and a worldwide spotlight on the sad stories of negligence in immunization and in conducting the necessary vaccinations. While we focus on this issue, it is due to its importance, in addition to the fact that the World Immunization Week demonstration should not be limited to describing and determining the size of the decline, but rather an urgent international plan is required to remedy it, on the basis that the issue is related to immunity, and children’s immunity first. Also, in light of the suffering of the majority of the world today from the repercussions of “Covid”, the Russian-Ukrainian war, the spread of poverty, the forced closure of institutions, and the exacerbation of unemployment, not to mention the world’s dealing with the concept of multidimensional poverty today, the focus is on immunity that makes all manifestations of resilience. made meaningful.
