THE HAGUE –
This weekend, more police officers were deployed to quell the nuisance around the boulevard at Scheveningen. The city council is still working on an action plan to tackle the nuisance of racing cars, ripping engines and annoying groups. That said city councilor Boudewijn Revis (VVD) on Saturday in the radio program Spuigasten on The Hague FM.

In recent weeks, local residents and the political party Hart voor Den Haag / Groep de Mos have complained about the noise pollution from cars and motorcycles racing through Scheveningen at 130 kilometers per hour. Especially the Visafslagweg, Scheveningen-Haven, Westduinweg and Statenlaan were renamed race tracks. Traffic alderman Robert van Asten (D66) announced last week noise flashes to end street racing.
In addition, visitors to the resort are harassed by annoying groups, regularly under the influence of alcohol and / or drugs, such as laughing gas. Recently, a man was also beaten up who criticized the antisocial and dangerous driving behavior of a motorist.
Extra police officers around the boulevard
After all these incidents, extra police officers were already present around the boulevard on Friday evening, the VVD councilor stated. Extra capacity has been made available to the police for this. ‘We are going to see what other actions we can take. We will discuss it in college on Tuesday, so I really expect an action plan for Scheveningen this week, ‘ he tells The Hague FM.
Those people need to get a tap and back in their loft – Boudewijn Revis, councilor
As city councilor Scheveningen, Revis asked mayor Johan Remkes (VVD) and councilor Hilbert Bredemeijer (CDA, enforcement) to sit down to solve the problems.
Revis argued in Spuigasten for a tough approach to the annoying groups. ‘On the boulevard there are groups of young adults – not even young people, but young adults – people aged 20 to 25 who behave in a way that you think: why? There just needs more enforcement. Those groups come from all over the city, gather there, bother people, after the beach pavilions and the pubs have closed. More enforcers need it. Those people need to be hit and put back in their loft. “
