The government, which announced its first quarter vaccination plan yesterday, surprised the news that today it has secured an additional 23 million vaccines.
It was planned to secure 20 million Novabacks, but this is the first news to introduce 3 million Pfizer.
The timing has also accelerated, and the Pfizer vaccination, which was originally scheduled for the third quarter, is expected to start from the end of March as soon as possible.

The amount of COVID-19 vaccine additionally secured by the government is 23 million people, including 20 million NovaVax and 3 million Pfizer.
The contract for NovaVax vaccine was already underway, but a supply contract was officially held today.
The 3 million Pfizer vaccine is an additional amount obtained after steadily negotiating with Pfizer since signing a contract for 10 million people in December.

“In the first half of the year, the uncertainty in the supply and demand of vaccines is growing. Among Pfizer vaccines, we have been pushing a certain amount of vaccines ahead of time and discussing the amount of additional vaccines that can be introduced in the first half.”
As a result, the number of corona vaccines secured by the Korean government has increased to 73 million, adding 23 million to the existing 55 million.
It is enough quantity left after the whole people are beaten.
It is also meaningful to secure additional supplies amid fierce competition to secure vaccines in each country, but it is noteworthy that the supply period has been accelerated.
Of the 10 million Pfizer vaccines that were initially scheduled to be introduced in the third quarter, 500,000 will come in at the end of March, and an additional 3 million will come in the second quarter.
In this case, aside from the 55,000 Pfizer vaccines of KOVAX, a joint vaccine purchase organization scheduled to be available in late February and early March, the vaccine will be available directly from Pfizer from the end of March.
NovaVax vaccine is the first vaccine produced in Korea through technology transfer and will be available from the second quarter.

“Because SK Bioscience has authority over supply and production, it is possible to supply vaccines to Korea more stably.
With enough vaccines available, the government is also considering other vaccines, such as Pfizer, Modena, and Janssen, if AstraZeneca vaccination is on hold.
