Who are the most workaholic business leaders? These are the French leaders, notes a study by the insurer Buparelayed by Bloomberg last January 20. The insurers interviewed 2,349 workers from eight countries or geographical areas: France, the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, China, Hong Kong and Singapore. Four out of ten French business leaders said they work intensely, for long hours and without regular breaks, 25% more than the global average.
How to explain that they are workaholics, the champions of “binge-working” in English? Their worries about the current economic crisis and their reluctance to telecommute compared to their counterparts around the world would have naturally led them down the road to work addiction. According to the study, those who work full-time in the office tend to chain long hours and get addicted more than those who work remotely. 42% of executives surveyed believe that hybrid work (office-teleworking) is beneficial for their company.

The fact that the French are on the podium of workaholics is surprising, write our American colleagues, citing the 35 hours, the summer holidays which last a good part of August, and the right to disconnect . American executives only come in seventh place in this ranking, far behind the United Arab Emirates (second place) and Egypt (third).
