Addiconsum warns savers on the issue of redemptions of Eurovita (read the related news here) which can be requested starting from November 1st.
The consumer association, in a note, states that “in the meantime a new company has been established, called Cronos Vita, currently owned by Generali Italia, Intesa Sanpaolo Vita, Poste Vita, Unipol SAI it’s yes Allianz, where customers from Eurovita have converged, who will maintain the prospects and guarantees previously subscribed for their investments. Cronos Vita, which has obtained authorization from Ivass to carry out the insurance business, will take over the business unit relating to Eurovita policies from 1 November, whose policy portfolio will be transferred to Cronos Vita without any contractual modification and it will subsequently be divided among the companies that participate in the company’s capital”.
“Given the tight deadline, we are receiving numerous complaints from savers who feel abandoned by Eurovita and the newco – he states Carlo Piarulli head of the credit and insurance department of Adiconsum Nazionale – as there has not yet been any information on the evolution of the situation, on the method of possible redemption, on the opportunity to keep the policy in place or not, the consequences of the possible decisions that may be hired.”
“We are urging both the company and IVASS – states the president of Adiconsum Carlo De Masi – so that policy subscribers are adequately informed and made aware of the management of their savings”.
In this regard, Adiconsum reiterates that “savers must be cautious in immediately redeeming the policies to avoid capital losses, due to the increase in rates in the last year. We invite them, for clarifications and assistance, to contact our offices throughout the national territory”.
