- Deaths rose 22 to 158,829
The data was collected by the Indonesian Ministry of Health with a cut-off time of 12:00 WIB.
Previously, there were a total of 6,517,630 positive cases on Saturday (5/11). Meanwhile, 6,322,920 patients have recovered and 158,807 have died.
Over the past week, the COVID-19 trend in Indonesia has shown an increase. Despite penetrating 5,000 cases a day, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Muhammad Syahril, linked it to the entry of the new Omicron XBB sub-variant.
At least 28 countries have reported the Omicron XBB sub-variant, but no significant spike was observed in COVID-19 cases. Some countries, such as Singapore, have also started to experience a decline in cases.
“This increase in cases is still within limits that do not make one significant or too high compared to our submicron and therefore BA 4 and BA 5,” explained Dr Syahril.
In order to prevent transmission, Dr. Syahril advised continuing to apply health protocols. The booster vaccination or third dose also helps to boost immunity, while the current booster achievement is still 27.62% of the 50% target.
