Adani Case: Transparency Needed; The Supreme Court rejected the Centre’s proposal in a sealed envelope

NEW DELHI: While hearing pleas seeking a comprehensive probe into the Hindenburg report against the Adani Group, the Supreme Court has refused to accept the sealed envelope sought by the Centre.

Chief Justice D.Y. clarified that everything should be transparent. A bench headed by Chandrachud refused to accept the sealed envelope. In the wake of the Hindenburg report, the Supreme Court had earlier said that an expert committee would be appointed to give recommendations to protect investors in the stock market. The sealed envelope contained recommendations regarding the names to be considered and the issues to be considered by this committee.

However, the court refused to accept the sealed cover handed over by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta on behalf of the Centre. ‘We don’t need sealed envelopes. Full transparency is required. If these proposals are accepted, it will look like a government-appointed committee, which we do not want. “Leave the decision to us,” said the Chief Justice.
