Adamio Collapses in NY and Several Cars Are Entombed by Debris – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK – Several parked cars were buried in debris after a scaffold collapsed in Queens, authorities said.

An order was issued to stop work immediately at the Queens construction site, which also caused property damage. No injuries were reported.

The Department of Buildings confirmed that he was called to a two-story construction site on Roosevelt Avenue in Flushing after reports of a collapse Sunday afternoon. Video posted on the Citizen app showed the sidewalk shed in ruins.

Debris covered two cars parked in front of the building, building officials said. A parapet was also damaged.

The site’s general contractor was cited for failing to safeguard the project and for erecting pipe scaffolding in violation of the New York City building code, authorities said.

The investigation is ongoing.
