Adamczyk on motorway tolls: They will be on the next sections

“We cannot afford to maintain endless free highways, tolls will be gradually introduced on subsequent sections,” said Infrastructure Minister Andrzej Adamczyk during the opening of the A1 motorway section.

Adamczyk took part in the official commissioning of new sections of the A1 motorway near Kamieńskie (Łódź Voivodeship). A year ago, contractors implementing an 80-km section of the motorway between Łódź and Częstochowa confirmed that by the end of 2021, with the exception of one section, we will drive 56 km of the A1 motorway between Łódź and Częstochowa in three lanes, plus an emergency lane – recalled the Minister of Infrastructure.

He emphasized that the contractors, GDDKiA, as well as all business partners involved in the project kept their word. Half a year ahead of schedule, we are under full traffic on the 56 km A1. In the middle of next year, these 56 km will be fully available, including parking lots and service roads. We also hope that the 24-km section of Mirbud will also be available in the middle of the year and that we will drive the safe A1 motorway to the coast from the southern border of the country during the summer holidays. – said Adamczyk.

He noted that the government is also ambitious towards 2022. Over 400 km of expressways, expert roads and motorways will be put into use by drivers. Just like the bypasses around cities, as well as the co-financing of local government roads – said the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure. He estimated that this would definitely increase road safety.

Adamczyk also referred to the issue of tolls for using the motorway.

Certainly it will not happen next year or in two years, but gradually the toll collection system will cover subsequent sections of motorways. The funds obtained in this way will flow to the National Road Fund and will be used for further investments – said Adamczyk during the opening of over 50 km of the A1 motorway section near Kamieńsko (Łódź Province).

As he added, “we are implementing an ambitious and bold plan by 2030 – 9,000 km of expressways, motorways and expressways,” and “tolls for motorways are a minor but still part of this plan”.

These fees are used to cover the considerable costs of maintaining the motorways. Each of us is aware of this that it is necessary to participate and participate in the cost of maintaining the motorway – added the minister. At the same time, he assured that for passenger cars, travel on expressways in Poland will not be paid.

During the participation in the official commissioning of new sections of the A1 motorway near Kamieńskie (Łódź Voivodeship), Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that in 2021 there were fewer fatal accidents on Polish roads than in 2020.

The Prime Minister announced that on Thursday morning he was analyzing data on accidents on Polish roads with the Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk.

The head of government emphasized that 2020 was better than 2019, when there were “much fewer fatal accidents, much fewer accidents on Polish roads”.

2021 – which compared to the year with lower mobility, i.e. 2020, the covid year – was a year with higher mobility, and yet this year we have fewer accidents, fewer fatal accidents on the roads – said Morawiecki.

At the same time, the head of government appealed to drivers to drive safely. As he said, “the end of the year is approaching and let’s really, in a very safe way, try to reach all the places that each of us may have in our plans”.

Let this breakthrough, which we are observing, be a good harbinger for the years to come, when Poland will no longer be in this infamous tail of European countries with high road death rates. Let’s drive more and more safely, let’s drive calmly, so that we reach our destination mostly safely – he said.

As he added, “let responsible, safe driving be the determinant of the change in the driving culture of Poles in 2022 and in the following years”.
