– I will waive my immunity as soon as the case reaches the Sejm. Unfortunately, this cannot be done earlier due to formal reasons, said Adam SzÅlapka, Minister for European Union Affairs, in an interview with “Rzeczpospolita”. Politician he declared this already last year, when the matter gained publicity.

The politician did not admit to his position on the day of the accident, only two months later, during an interrogation at the police station, when asked about his profession, he admitted that he was an MP – as we wrote about in Gazeta.pl . Then the policewoman who was conducting the interrogation called the prosecutor. The politician, in turn, claimed that he did not hide his position.

– At the time of the incident, of course, I provided help, we called the services together and I performed all the activities like a normal citizen. I am in constant contact with the family and I know that everything is fine – said Szłapka in June, quoted by TVN 24.

Now the Sejm must agree to bring charges against the MP by waiving his immunity with an absolute majority of votes. First, the motion will go to the immunity committee, and then the Speaker of the Sejm will decide whether to order a vote.
