The coach, under whose baton Biało-Czerwoni made a sensation at the European Championships in France in 2016, by reaching the quarter-finals of this event, declared that he was ready to take over the rule of the team again.
Adam Nawałka ready to return to the staff
– The national team is above all! – the coach told the Fact. He added that he had no contact with anyone from the Polish Football Association. – The most important thing is the good of the staff. If the president of Kulesza has a different candidate to lead the Polish national team, I will respect this decision and keep my fingers crossed for the team – he added.
Adam Nawałka, who was on holiday abroad, also stated that he was amazed at the press revelations linking him with the Kosovo team. The local media reported that he had submitted his candidacy to lead the cadre of this Balkan state. – This is complete nonsense. There was no such topic at all. It’s someone else’s invention! – the former coach of the White-Reds firmly stated.
Asked by us how he perceived the fact that the vast majority of the players of the Polish national team chose him as the one they would like to work with in the national team, Adam Nawałka replied: – It is a great satisfaction for me. I have a very good relationship with all the players. I am glad that the players appreciated the period of our cooperation. In 2016, the coach led Poland to the quarter-finals of the Euro, where the Biało-Czerwoni lost to the later European champions – the Portuguese after penalties.
Polish footballers without a coach so far
The Polish national team has been without a coach since December 26, 2021. Then the Portuguese Paulo Sousa unexpectedly quit his job at the Polish Football Association and moved to the Brazilian Flamengo.
On March 24, the Poles in the play-off semi-finals for promotion to this year’s World Cup in Qatar will play against Russia in Moscow.
