“Acumar Begins Flu Vaccination Campaign for Cooperatives Cleaning Matanza-Riachuelo Basin”

The Matanza-Riachuelo Basin Authority (Acumar) began today with the flu vaccination operation for cooperative members who work to clean the banks of rivers and streams in Lomas de Zamora, with the aim of preventing diseases and protecting the health of the teams of work.

The start of the campaign took place in Lomas de Zamora, where eight cooperatives from that municipality were convened: Esperanza y progreso 1 and 2, Lomas para todos, El clover, El progreso MMXXII, Construyendo el futuro, El bajo, Sembrando valores and was assisted by a Mobile Health Unit.

During four days of work, the flu vaccine was applied to 210 cooperative members and, in the corresponding cases, the hepatitis B and double adult scheme (diphtheria and tetanus) was completed. The doses were provided by the Ministry of Health of the Nation.

“Taking care of the health of the teams that carry out tasks as fundamental as daily cleaning in the Basin is a management priority. It is also important to strengthen their training on preventive measures in the area of environmental health, due to their role as a community reference in their neighborhoods”, highlighted the president of Acumar, Martín Sabbatella.

The activities will continue in the coming weeks in Avellaneda, Almirante Brown, Esteban Echeverría, Lanús and La Matanza.

In addition, during these operations, training sessions on environmental health are generated. Talks are held on the prevention of mosquito-borne diseases, healthy eating, and recreational and playful activities that promote physical activity.
