Actually a perfect car for winter Norway

Kodiaq was the first SUV from Skoda, and has since its launch in 2016 been a great success.

In Norway, the family SUV is overall the third best-selling model for the brand, behind the Octavia and Superb.

In fact, almost 7,000 copies roll out on Norwegian roads, according to figures from OFV.

Now, of course, the car is a bit overshadowed by the solid electric car wave that continues to wash inland. The focus is instead on the electric SUV Enyaq.

Still: For those who do not want to pay attention to cold, charging and range anxiety, Kodiaq can still be an excellent choice.

We have now tested the new facelift version with a diesel engine.

This is a short test. This means that we have tested this model before. Now we try it with a new driveline. You will find one more thorough test of Kodiaq here.

Many Skoda Kodiaqs are rolling out on Norwegian roads, even though it is now electric Enyaq that in many ways has taken over the baton.

What is new?

You should be a little above average Skoda-interested to see the visual changes on the updated Kodiaq.

In the front, the grill, front catcher and light have a slightly different design. In addition, the car can be supplied with LED Matrix lights for the first time.

At the rear, a few adjustments have also been made, such as a new rear spoiler. Otherwise, the car can now be delivered with ergonomic seats in perforated leather, with electrical adjustment, ventilation and massage function.

On the top edition, Kodiaq RS, the virtual cockpit with 10.25-inch screen is standard. This can also be ordered on most other editions.

How does it work?

Skoda Kodiaq is a well-built and good car to drive. Little is left to chance.

We have a real sense of the driver environment. It is neat, clear and not least a very comfortable place to spend time on the road. The car is experienced as almost surprisingly comfortable, and there is little doubt that Skoda has chosen to prioritize precisely this.

Low noise level inside the cabin, we also note on the plus side.

The feeling of TURNING a temperature or volume wheel is wonderful, and unfortunately a shortage of many new cars today.

On a trip in Kodiaq, we can not fail to mention the place. It is very good, both in front, behind and in the trunk. There is no doubt that this is a family car worthy.

Under the hood, we find the VW Group’s 2-liter diesel engine. Diesel yes! We must admit that it is a bit nice to spend just one minute at the gas station, then you can drive just over 800 kilometers, without taking into account charging stations, driving style or cold.

By the way, the engine provides 200 horsepower and 400 Nm. It lasts in long lanes on a car like this. What we do not have as good a sense of, on the other hand, is the DSG automatic transmission. It is simply perceived as slow and unresponsive. To put it bluntly, it sometimes seems as if the gear oil has been replaced with syrup …

On long journeys, and on rough winter roads, the engine manages with around 0.5 liters / mile. It is very good inside, in an SUV with four-wheel drive.

Our test car is well equipped, but it should be said that Kodiaq also comes with a good equipment package as standard. See separate fact box above at the bottom of the case.

Skoda has hit the mark with its new electric SUV. Read the test:

Graphite Gray metallic is not very exciting. We think Kodiaq is a car that wears a slightly clearer color. Red for example.

Conclusion?

Skoda Kodiaq with 2-liter diesel engine is really the perfect car for winter Norway. The car serves high comfort, good maneuverability and a real range of around 800 kilometers.

So here you can pack the car crammed and drive up and down the mountains, without thinking an ounce of range.

Of course, it falls outside the category (read electrically) that the majority of Norwegian car buyers choose today. But if you are not ready for an electric car properly yet, Kodiaq with a diesel engine can still be a sensible choice, in isolation.

In passing, it is not very easy to establish that this is a new 2022 model.
