“My childhood birthdays are associated with azaleas and Alpine violets. Usually they were pink in color and in pots, so that the joy was longer,” says actress Zane Burnicka. Her birthday is on March 12.
When, many years later, Zane got to the Alps and saw the violets growing there, the joy was indescribable. “Now on my windowsill live very small seedlings of Alpine violets, which the director Kārlis Anitens himself grew from seeds and presented to the entire ensemble as a gift at the premiere of the production “Bus”. I can’t wait for them to bloom. And I hope that the color will be the right one – pink,” says the jubilee smiling. The most memorable birthday celebration for Zane was three years ago. “Not only because the number of years was nicely rounded, but more because it turned out to be the last party in the country for a long time. Namely, on March 13, the world was shut down due to the devastating virus. That year, March 12 was a Thursday, I was also born on a Thursday. Therefore, I decided to celebrate on that date, instead of on a holiday, which would have been more convenient for many guests. And it’s good that I listened to myself,” says Zane. The celebration took place in the theater club “Eastern Border” – with songs, dances, playing the piano and excerpts from the new play. “And as a cherry on the cake was the blowing of candles to the accompaniment of the famous opera aria “Libiamo ne’lieti calici”. The feeling was fabulous,” she remembers. The actress doesn’t mind if a show has to be performed on her name day or birthday. Then the greeters receive not only champagne and snacks, but also the enjoyment of art. On the other hand, the celebrant – many flowers and satisfaction. “My new productions of this season in “Eastern border” are the already mentioned “Bus” and director Pēteras Galviņš’s first work in our theater – the comedy “Neliešu balle”. We have just received a standing ovation, as in big theaters,” the actress is pleased. She says that the main thing is to play with joy, break out and cut into the energy of laughter, so that the audience is satisfied, well rested, pleased and will come again. “And if, on the way home, I still hear people talking that what they just saw was full of excitement, that their cheeks hurt from laughing and that the evening was excellent, that is the greatest reward.”
But the jubilee would like to wish her peace of mind and stability. May everything be enough, may the children be healthy and successful. Learn to slow down a bit and find time for your heart’s work. And to be able to fulfill the new year’s resolution – to organize the photo albums of ancestors and visit long-lost relatives.
