American actress Suzanne Somers, known from the series Step by Step, has died. In it, she played the mother of the family, Carol. She was 76 years old, she died a day before her 77th birthday. The AP agency reported about it with reference to the family.
Somers battled breast cancer for more than 23 years. Her husband Alan Hamel, son Bruce and other family members were with her at the time of her death.
The family gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday, according to the statement. “Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life and want to thank the millions of her fans and followers who loved her so much,” the announcement read.
Somers announced on Instagram in July that her breast cancer had returned and that she was ready to fight the disease again. The actress was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, and also battled skin cancer.
