Actress Shatabdi Roy to leave Trinamool Satabdi Roy | Trinamool Congress | BJP | Bengal

Kolkata: The BJP is continuing its efforts to mobilize Trinamool leaders for the Bengal Assembly elections. There are indications that Shatabdi Roy, a Member of Parliament and actress from Birbhum, known as the popular face of the Trinamool Congress, will leave the party. Shatabdi Roy, a Member of Parliament from Birbhum since 2009, announced on social media that his decision would be announced at 2pm on Sunday.

Shatabdi Roy’s Facebook post came shortly after Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh announced that about 50 Trinamool MLAs would join the BJP next month, challenging Bengal minister Jyoti Malik. The change of heart of Shatabdi, who sided with Mamata Banerjee at her first public function on December 29, shortly after seven MLAs, including former minister Suvendu Adhikari, left the party, shocked party centers.

After the star’s post appeared on social media, Trinamool leaders said that Shatabdi Roy’s phone was switched off and could not be contacted. Shatabdi Roy said on social media that there were no meetings in the party and that he was deliberately excluded from many public functions and was suffering from severe mental distress.

Earlier, Mamata Banerjee had said that she was not worried about the BJP’s move and did not think that Trinamool could be bought off just because it could buy some rotten MLAs. Mamata accused the BJP, an outsider’s party, of playing hate politics and cheating.
