Actress Selva Alemán passed away – Argentine Association of Actors and Actresses

It is with deep regret that we report the passing of the beloved actress Selva Alemán. We extend our most sincere condolences to her life partner, Arturo Puig, and to all her loved ones in this difficult time, remembering her with the respect she earned throughout her extensive artistic career in theater, film and TV.

Her real name was Carmen Selva Giorno, she was born on April 30, 1944, daughter of the remembered actress Carmen Vallejo. She died on September 3, 2024. She joined the Argentine Actors Association in 1961. In 2003, the union awarded her the Podestá Award for Honorable Career along with the Senate of the Nation. She began her career in theater at an early age and quickly became one of the most prominent figures on the Argentine artistic scene, carrying out a career of more than six decades, with multiple recognitions.

On television, she participated in memorable fictions such as “Our Galician Girl”, “Little Women”, “Limit Situation”, “Dare”, “High Comedy”, “They Are Loves”, “Lalola”, “Malparida”, “Prosecutors”, “The Beautiful Page”, “Final Time”, among many others. In the cinema, she participated in films such as “Pimienta”, “Count to Ten”, “The Island”, “Celina’s Scream”, “La murga”, “The Last Floor”, “Dear Mom”, “Objects”, among others.

In theater, her versatility allowed her to stand out in works of diverse genres, from classics to contemporary comedies: “Mothers and Sons”, “A Certain Pity”, “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”, “Love Letters”, “The Trojan Women”, “Le Prenom”, “Long Day’s Journey Into Night”, “Realize”, “The Price”, “Autumn Sonata”, “Recognize Ourselves”, “Three Sisters”, among other shows.
