Actress Priyamani says her name is not Priya Vasudev Mani Iyer. The actor said that Vasudevan is his father’s name and Iyer is his caste, and that’s how it got on Wikipedia. Priyamani was speaking in an interview given to Cannes Channel Media.
‘My name is Priyamani. Not Priya Vasudev Mani Iyer. Vasudevan is my father’s name. Iyer is our caste. It became that way on Wikipedia,’ said Priyamani.
When asked if there is another name called Parvati, Priyamani replied that it was her grandmother’s name and that in her family, grand children are given the name of their father.
‘Parvati is my maternal grandmother’s name and my father’s mother’s name. In our family, grandchildren are named after their grandparents. My real name is Priya. But whenever I go to this temple I say my name is Parvati.
The name given by father and mother is Priya and Mani is father’s name. I changed Priyamani for the film. At that time an astrologer said that Priya is a good name, but it would be better to keep it as a single name. That’s why Priya Mani became Priyamani,’ said the actor.
Priyamani is currently acting in Neram directed by Jeethu Joseph. Mohanlal is playing the lead role in the movie. Priyamani said in an interview that this is a courtroom story. Her father and mother are happy that she is acting with Mohanlal in Jeethu Joseph’s film. Priyamani added that her father and mother did not understand the name of the directors, but when they were told that it was the director of the scene, they understood.
