Actress Priya Mani speaks out about color discrimination in the film industry

Many people have said that we need actresses of colour: Priya Mani

Actress Priya Mani says she has faced discrimination because of her colour. Priya Mani said that many people have said that colored actresses are needed and now there is no such discrimination in cinema. Priya was speaking in an interview to India Glitz.

“I have faced discrimination on the basis of color. A lot of people have said that we need actresses of color. Such discriminations were present in movies till one time. Now it doesn’t. Films now need people with normal skin without make-up. I am very happy about that.

I am not saying that everyone is the same. But once upon a time, only colored girls were needed in films. Always said we want Bombay heroines.

What I want to ask is that people coming from Bobay know the language? They don’t know what they are talking about. Then why the actresses from outside. There are beautiful girls in our country who know how to act and speak our language. They will have less color. What’s wrong with that? Don’t our girls know how to act? They also know how to dance. And what is lacking for our girls? No one has an answer to that question. Now that barrier is gone. I am very happy about that. The girls of South Industry are proving their skills at world class level,’ said Priya Mani.

In an interview, Priya Mani said that while shooting the film Paruthi Veeran, she faced a lot of difficulties and was even late to eat.

‘When Paruthi Veeran shot, he had to face a lot of difficulties. We shot the film in Madurai in the midday sun. We hadn’t even had lunch then. Karti and I had our meal at 4.30 pm. There is the scene where I fall in the mud. It is pre-made mud. There were many insects and small creatures in it. When Karthi hits me, I fall towards it,’ said Priya Mani.
