“I can now open up about this, because it all looks good again,” says Snoijink, who initially kept her illness and treatment silent. “That makes it easier to talk about it, so everyone can know about it.” Snoijink suffered from a form of cancer caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV).
The treatments felt Snoijink, who became known for flodder, The elevator in Phileine says sorry, feel bad for a long time. “At a certain point I couldn’t do anything except lie in bed and look around. I just had to get through it, because I knew what I was doing it for.”
“By persevering, everything now looks good again and I have ended up in the well-known control circuit,” she says. “They will continue to monitor me for the next five years, starting with once every three months and gradually tapering off to less periodically.”
Snoijink now enjoys life even more. “Especially from my own body, that everything is working again. I do notice that I am still a bit sensitive, less strong than a year and a half ago and need a little more sleep. But that doesn’t stop me from enjoying life. A little more careful than before, but it works. That makes me so happy.”
