Actress in Mundruczó’s film “Pieces of a Woman”, nominated for an Oscar

British actress Vanessa Kirby, who plays the main character in Kornél Mundruczó’s film “Pieces of a Woman”, was nominated for an Oscar on Monday in Los Angeles, reports MTI.

In the film by the Hungarian director Kornél Mundruczó, a young woman loses her child at birth. As she embarks on a year-long grief odyssey that breaks relationships with loved ones, her deeply personal story as a woman learning to live alongside her loss is revealed.

In addition to Kirby, Viola Davis (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), Andra Day (USA versus Billie Holiday), Frances McDormand (Nomadland) and Carrey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman) received nominations from the American Film Academy.

Most of the nominations, ten in all, for this year’s Oscars went to David Fincher’s film “Mank”. Also included in the Best Movies category were “The Father, Judas” and the “Black Messiah”, “Minari”, “Nomadland”, “Promising Young Woman”, “Sound of Metal” and “The Trial of the Chicago 7”.

The nominees for the best international film included the Danish film “Another Round”, the film “Better Days” from Hong Kong, the Romanian film “Collective”, the Tunisian “The Man Who Sold His Skin” and “Quo Vadis Aida”? , a production from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The 93rd Academy of Arts and Sciences Awards for Feature Films (AMPAS) will be held in Los Angeles on Sunday, April 25th.
