From Cleaner to Producer: Latvian Actress Takes on Hollywood-Esque Chaos in New Series
Ilze Pukinska, a beloved Latvian actress known for her diverse roles, transforms from a humble cleaner to a driven producer in the new Go3 original series "Rating Blockbuster." This darkly comedic journey through the world of television production throws Pukinska’s character into a whirlwind of absurd obstacles, eccentric personalities, and industry betrayals.
The series, which began streaming in November, follows Mark, an ambitious young producer who lands his dream opportunity to create his first film project. However, his vision for a groundbreaking science fiction series quickly collides with the realities of the television world. Budget constraints, format limitations, and clashes with colleagues threaten to derail his ambitions.
But Mark refuses to be defeated. He assembles a team of misfits, each with their own unique talents and baggage, and together they navigate the madness of making television.
For Pukinska, working with director Ruslan Fradkin was a highlight of the production. "I think he comes to the cinema with his own style along with the cast. It is borderline at times, because the jokes are just like ‘tarantino’," she shared.
"I can praise the director because he trusts the actor, is human and has great respect for the actors."
Filming "Rating Blockbuster" was an intense but rewarding experience for Pukinska. She admitted, "When you see yourself on screen, I always feel that things could be different. The feeling that it could have been better, because we, actors, are just like that. We don’t sit back and get excited about ourselves because we realize we could have done better."
One memorable shoot took place during a raging summer storm. Pukinska recalled, "I remember being frustrated and thinking, how can the filming not be canceled at that time, because I was knocked off my feet. However, we were filming in an airplane hangar, we were working all day, half of the outdoor decorations were blown away, the conditions were real, but we filmed inside. Nobody canceled anything. Filming was safe."
Despite the challenges, Pukinska believes that the series will resonate with viewers: "The whole process and filming time was beautiful, so hopefully the audience will enjoy the series. This is the most important thing."
"Rating Blockbuster" offers a glimpse into the often chaotic, yet exhilarating world of television production. With its quirky characters, sharp humor, and relatable themes, it’s a series destined to capture the hearts (and funny bones) of viewers worldwide.

## From Scrubbing Floors to Pitching Plots: Ilze Pukinska on Navigating Hollywood’s Dark Side in “Rating Blockbuster”
**World Today News:** Ilze pukinska, welcome! Yoru transition from a cleaner to a producer in “Rating Blockbuster” is quite a leap. What drew you to this role?
**Ilze Pukinska:** Thank you! I was immediately captivated by the script. The character of Līga, this seemingly ordinary woman thrust into the chaotic world of television production, is incredibly rich and complex. There’s a rawness to her ambition, a vulnerability that makes her struggles feel vrey real, even amidst the absurdity. It’s a story about chasing dreams, but also about the moral compromises we sometimes face in pursuit of them.
**WTN:** The series is described as a darkly comedic take on the television industry. What can viewers expect in terms of humor and tone?
**IP:** Think biting satire with a absurdist touch. We’re poking fun at the egos, the backstabbing, and the relentless pressure cooker environment of television production. There are moments of laugh-out-loud humor, but also genuine pathos, exploring the human cost of ambition and the fine line between integrity and compromise.
**WTN:** You mentioned Līga’s journey being “a story about chasing dreams.” What do you hope audiences take away from watching her navigate this world?
**IP:** I want people to connect with Līga’s hunger, her desire to prove herself. But I also hope they’ll reflect on the bigger picture: the intoxicating allure of success, the sacrifices we make, and the question of whether the ends justify the means. The series doesn’t offer easy answers, but it encourages viewers to think critically about the price of ambition in a cutthroat industry.
**WTN:** With its dark humor and commentary on the entertainment industry, “Rating Blockbuster” seems to have a worldwide appeal. What do you think Latvian viewers, specifically, will resonate with?
**IP:** Latvians have a wry sense of humor and a deep appreciation for storytelling. I think they will relate to Līga’s underdog spirit, her determination to break through societal expectations. Moreover, the series touches on themes of identity, belonging, and finding your place in the world, which are universal experiences, regardless of nationality.
**WTN:** what’s next for you? Any projects your currently working on that you can share with our readers?
**IP:** I’m incredibly excited about a few projects in development, but details are still under wraps. Let’s just say, I’m continuing to explore complex, challenging roles that push me as an actress.
**WTN:** We can’t wait to see what you do next! Thank you for your time, Ilze.
