French-Italian actress, TV presenter and journalist Catherine Spaak died on Easter Sunday at the age of 77. She acted in many Italian comedies and also acted in theaters. Daughter of screenwriter Charles Spaak, she has worked with many directors, including Dario Argento, Roger Vadim, Luigi Comencini and Paolo Virzi.
Spaak rose to fame in Italy in the 1960s and 1970s. In the 1980s she finally turned to journalism, interviewing various public figures and writing for the daily newspaper “Corriere della Sera” and many other newspapers and magazines. On television, she led the popular show “Harem” on Rai3 for 15 seasons.
Two years ago she suffered a brain hemorrhage from which she would never recover. Italian Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini praised her as “a versatile, cultured and elegant artist who has found a home in our country that has welcomed and loved her”.
