The serial world is currently dominated by adaptation game hit The Last of Uswho was perhaps the first in history to be able to transfer the magic of interactive media to purely passive TV viewing (see our review).
Unfortunately, the American actress Annie Wersching, who lent the face and voice of one of the most important characters of the original, will no longer enjoy the mass success of the brand.
In 2020, she was diagnosed with cancer, and although she tried to continue her career (including as the Borg Queen in the new Star Trek installments), she succumbed to the serious illness on January 29. She left behind her husband, three sons and countless fans, whom she was able to please, including as Renée in the cult “real-time” series 24, but also with important roles in the critically acclaimed Runaways or Bosch.
However, she probably appealed to our readers the most as Tess, the partner of the protagonist Joel from the cult game The Last of Us. Although she didn’t stay on the screen for long, it was she who pushed events in the right direction when she brought the title couple together.
Who knows, if it weren’t for a serious illness, maybe the role would have been taken on in the series, similar to Merle Dandridgová in the role of Marlene – this is how Anna Torvová had to replace her. And while she’s definitely not bad, her interpretation of this character is simply different.
