Delfina Perret lives in New York, recently recorded an advertisement with the singer Thalía and appeared in several blockbuster series such as Gossip Girl, Succession and And Just Like That (second version of Sex and the City) on HBO Max and Mr and Mrs Smith on Amazon Prime. She currently performs at the famous Broadway piano bar “Don’t Tell Mama”, with two shows “The comeback cabaret” and “Chasing dreams”.
Perret initially formed in Buenos Aires with Juan Rodó, Eluney Salazar, Rodrigo Rivero and Geraldine Waisberg. She is also at the Superior College of Theater and Communication Arts Andamio 90 with renowned teachers such as Mercedes Fraile and Daniela Katz. She subsequently trained in New York at Go Broadway and AMDA (American Music and Dramatic Academy) with Tony’s nominated teachers like Kenita Miller. In addition, she participated in important musical comedies at the El Cubo, El Picadero, El Vitral and Andamio 90 theaters.
Born in General Pico, to a mother from the Pampas and a father from Buenos Aires, Deflina attended secondary school at Balmoral College- Banfield’s bilingual school- where she learned English perfectly and allowed her to adopt that language as a second language. This tool was key when it came to defining the future of its improvement. At the age of 8, she began taking theater classes at the Ensamble, an institution that she is dedicated to conducting acting workshops, and at 13 she began at Andamio 90, a renowned academy that trains actors, created by Alejandra Boero in Buenos Aires.
Delfina says that the regular trips she makes to La Pampa are inspiring. “I can downshift and regain my calm. Being reunited with my family gives me great joy. I have thousands of memories growing up with my cousins, enjoying a freedom and tranquility that is not lived in Buenos Aires”. She commented that one of her wishes is to be able to share in our province the experiences lived in different scenarios, giving intensive theater and musical comedy classes as a teacher, since she was trained for it.
Chasing Dreams
Chasing Dreams is the first café-concert founded by two Argentine artists in New York City. The format has had a great impact among the US Latino community prior to its landing on the Paseo La Plaza billboard, after selling out locations in the Big Apple.
“We knew that this format was not implemented in Argentina in the way that we carry it out in New York. It is a new, different, innovative, unique concept. This type of show has not been done before. We feel that the musical theater industry is growing a lot in Buenos Aires and we think it is an excellent time to launch this project” commented Camila Figueiras Meriggi and Delfina Perret, both graduates of AMDA, The American Musical and Dramatic Academy.
The show has different performances, related to a particular theme: “Broadway Classics”, “Latin Night”, “National Rock”, etc. The cast is made up of one performer, with a live pianist who accompanies each artist, offering the public a varied and emotional show.
Chasing Dreams the Cabaret Series was created in August 2022, in New York City. Six shows were held, at the renowned cabaret bar Don’t Tell Mama. On this stage, in different decades, artists such as Liza Minelli, Bette Midler, Chita Rivera, Audra McDonald and Kristin Chenoweth made their first presentations.
Until now, the show has been paid for with the sale of tickets in the different presentations. Delfina anticipated that the trip to Argentina will allow her and her partner to intensify the search for sponsors and open the castings to a greater number of Argentine artists from different disciplines and from different provinces. Those who are interested in learning about other aspects of Delfina Perret’s successful career can access various interviews over the internet (for example, on the Puntal AM channel, on YouTube) or through social networks.
