The actress Ira von Fürstenberg has died at the age of 83. She was a jet-set and cinema star of the Sixties and Seventies, she was born in Rome. She was the daughter of Prince Tassilo Fürstenberg and Clara Agnelli, Gianni’s sister. Ira von Fürstenberg, whose full name was Virginia Carolina Theresa Pancrazia Galdina zu Fürstenberg, acted in around thirty films directed by masters such as Alberto Lattuada, Mauro Bolognini and Lamberto Bava.

She had been married twice. Her first marriage at the age of 15 to Alfonso of Hohenlohe – Langenburg from whom she had Christoph and Hubertus. The second with Francisco Matarazzo Pignatari, known as Baby, entrepreneur and playboy who emigrated from Naples to Brazil, one of the leading names of the Italian-Brazilian jet-set. A relationship that made her the protagonist of the Roman jet set and the salons of the time. In her life, she also had a professional stint as a jewelry designer.
