Actress and Director Wimie Wilhelm Passes Away at Age 62: Remembering Her Legacy in Baantjer and Dutch Cinema

Actress and director Wimie Wilhelm, known for, among others Baantjer, passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 62. She died after a short illness, her agency Montecatini reported.

Wilhelm was best known to the general public for her role as watch commander Els Peeters in Baantjer. She was seen in the last six seasons of the RTL police series from 2000 to 2006.

Wilhelm directed countless comedians for decades, such as Richard Groenendijk and Brigitte Kaandorp, and starred in several films and series. She had roles in major Dutch films such as Black book (2006), Pete Bell (2002), Crumb (1999) in Antonia (1995).

She was recently seen as a literary agent in the series Bestsellerboy and as the troll Nanette in fantasy series Panduloria. At the end of last year she still had a role in it Sinterklaas news.

‘We laughed an awful lot’

In the theater Wilhelm performed with, among others, Margôt Ros and Bodil de la Parra, with whom she performed the performances. Among Women made.

In 2010, the Amsterdam native had her own cabaret performance, entitled Own business, but that was not a great success.

Groenendijk calls it “a privilege” on Instagram to have known Wilhelm. “We were able to experience so many special and intense moments together and we laughed so hard together,” the comedian writes.
