Actor William Hurt has died at the age of 71as announced by his family in a brief statement collected by the US media.
Winner of an Oscar for “Kiss of the Spider Woman” (“The kiss of the spider woman”, 1985), he starred in films such as “Body Heat” (“Fire in the body”, 1981) or “Children of a Lesser God” (“Children of a lesser god”, 1986).
His debut film role was in 1980, playing a scientist in the sci-fi thriller “Altered States.”, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for New Star of the Year. From there, he played a memorable role as the lawyer seduced by Kathleen Turner in “Fire in the body” (1981) or as Arkady Renko in “Gorky Park”.
hurt was multiple Oscar nominees, for titles such as David Cronenberg’s police thriller “A History of Violence” (2005). He is also notable for his participation in titles such as “AI Artificial Intelligence”, “The Good Shepherd”, “On the Edge of the News”, “The Accidental Tourist”, “Smoke”, “Mr. Brooks” or “Robin Hood”.
