Actor T.P. Recalls Onam Memories at Gandhi Bhavan: A Tale of Loss and Hope

‘Onam was great. My father came to see me. He went back happy to see me. Onamsadya was magnificent’.- actor T.P. who lives at Gandhi Bhavan in Pathanapuram after losing his memories. These are the words of Madhavan.

Acting in more than 600 films, T.P. was the first general secretary of ‘Amma’. This video of Madhavan talking about Onam is already viral. This video was shared by Gandhi Bhavan.

TP It has been eight years since Madhavan came to Gandhi Bhavan. He lives in a room above the main office at Gandhi Bhavan.

T.P. left the cinema and went on a pilgrimage to Haridwar. Madhavan was there in a state of tamas. Some monks took him to the hospital and when he recovered, he was sent to Thiruvananthapuram by carriage. When he reached Thiruvananthapuram and was in a lodge room without help, serial director Prasad brought him to Gandhi Bhavan. After reaching Gandhi Bhavan and his health improved, he acted in a couple of serials and films. Later he suffered from amnesia.

‘During the eight years, only a handful of people from the film industry came to see him. Pathanapuram MLA K.B. Ganesh Kumar visits him occasionally. Actor Suresh Gopi came and met him and helped him. Actress Chippi and her husband Ranjith, Jayaraj Warrier, Madhupal and few others have come to visit him. There was a time when he wanted to see many colleagues. But now all those wishes are destroyed and he is in a state of no memory. We were hoping that at least one phone call would reach him during this Onam season. – Gandhi Bhavan Vice Chairman Amal Raj says.
