Actor Steve Buscemi Attacked in New York: Publicist Confirms He’s Fine

Actor Steve Buscemi is fine after being punched in the face by a man on a New York street, his publicist said this morning.

The 66-year-old star of Fargo and Boardwalk Empire he was attacked late Wednesday morning in Manhattan and taken to a nearby hospital with bruising, swelling and bleeding in his left eye.

“Steve Buscemi was attacked in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” according to a statement Sunday local time (Monday morning AEST) from his publicist.

“He’s fine and appreciates everyone’s good wishes.”

The attack was first reported by the New York Post.

The New York Police Department released an anonymous statement on the attack on Wednesday.

Buscemi’s representative confirmed Sunday that the actor is the unidentified assault victim in the police statement.

The Police Department said that no one has been arrested and that the investigation is continuing.

Buscemi’s Boardwalk Empire Co-star Michael Stuhlbarg was hit in the back of the neck by a rock while walking in Central Park in Manhattan on March 31.

Stuhlbarg chased his attacker, who was arrested outside the park.
