Kasaragod: Actor and reality show star Shias Karim has been granted bail in the case of extorting money and torturing a young woman with a promise of marriage. Hozdurg court granted bail to Shias. Earlier, the High Court had granted interim bail to Shias. Shias, who was arrested at Kasaragod Chantera police station this morning, was produced in court after a medical examination.
Shias Karim had given a statement that he had promised marriage to the complainant. Shias’ position is that the complainant has hidden the fact that she is married and has a son. There was no sexual harassment. Sexual intercourse was consensual. Sheas said that he took Rs 5 lakh from the woman and used it to buy the car they now own.
A fitness instructor in Ernakulam and a resident of Kasarkot Patna filed a complaint against Sheas at the Chantera police station last month. Sheas was arrested from the Chennai airport on Wednesday. The Kerala Police had issued a search notice against Shias. Chantera police reached Chennai and took Shias into custody.
