Actor Rudolf Jelínek has died – News

“It is with sadness in our hearts that we have to announce that the actor Rudolf Jelínek passed away in his peaceful sleep this morning. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather,” Jelínek’s family told the ČTK agency.

Rudolf Jelínek was born on February 27, 1935 in Kutná Hora. The theater made fun of him already in his youth, he was a member of the Kutnohorsk volunteer association. But he wanted to be a gym teacher, he didn’t think about acting. He played basketball, handball and skiing.

In 1957, however, he graduated from DAMU Prague. He then went to the Beskydy Theater in Nové Jičín. He alternated several theater roles. In 1963, he came to Prague, to the SK Neumann Theater, and then played in the Theater behind the Gate. After that, he was a member of the Vinohrady Theater. He was also a guest on other Prague stages.

He also has several film roles to his credit. In 1955, he made his first appearance in front of the camera in the comedy Visit from the Clouds. A year later, the films The Hesitant Shooter and Robinsonka followed. He played his first leading role in the film Puppies in 1957, co-written by Miloš Forman.

Later, he appeared in the films Death in the Saddle (1958), King of the Šumava (1959), Baron Prášil (1961), Prince and Večernice (1978) and The Moment, the Moment (1981). His last film role was in the short film The Secret of Service (2016).

He also played in many series, for example in Major Zeman’s Thirty Cases, Criminal Adventures, Chetnik Humoreska or Ordinac in the Rose Garden.

His first wife was Jamila Hlavatá, with whom he has two children, Marko and Bara. He married a second time to Martina Růžičková, a horse racing trainer and jockey.
